Somerset Premier Division: Ilminster Town 0-1 Fry Club

This Easter Monday clash two days after a pulsating cup semi final found Ilminster Town a little jaded and not at their best.

Just like Saturday the team were beaten when Fry Club scored late in the match to win 1-0.

Ilminster dominated possession through out the match with Fry Club looking to take the draw, the Blues certainly had their chances to win the match but their decision making in the last third was poor.

Owen Burn had a fine match in central defence.

Uhlsport Premier and First Division Cup: Ilminster Town 1-2 Chilcompton Sports

A large Easter Saturday crowd in glorious spring sunshine were fully  entertained in a pulsating Somerset County League Cup Semi-Final.

With both sides locked at 1-1 and nothing to separate the two teams the visitors launched one last attack,  a break down the right led to a cross which was swept home by their top goal scorer Jed Parfitt  to give Chilcompton a last minute 2-1 victory.

Chilcompton started well and had a glorious chance to take an early lead , with an attempt on goal hitting the side netting.

Jack Steer and Evan Howse both had good efforts from distance as the Blues more than matched their high flying opponents.

With 30 minutes gone Ollie Jones scored with a header to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Ilminster started the second half well, Evan Howse scored with a great finish from 20 yards out across the keeper to make it 1-1.

Both sides were playing good football building from the back, there was nothing to separate the two teams.

Substitutes were made and Ilminster were looking the more likely to grab the winner, Kris Hastings in an unfamiliar striker role made a great run, with the defender forcing him wide and the angle narrowing his shot agonisingly crept inches wide of the far post.

Jack Steer also went close with a great effort.

Chilcompton gained some momentum as the match entered the last five minutes, the defence stood firm until the last minute when the 27 goal Somerset County Premier League top scorer Parfitt swept a cross home to send his team into the final.

It was tough on the Blues to lose, they should certainly keep their heads high, the team has really improved in the last few weeks.
