Somerset Division One: Minehead 1-1 Combe St Nicholas

COMBE made the trip to Minehead without both Gav Herrod (illness) and Josh Davies (unavailability), but welcomed back goalkeeper Andrew Sochon back & Wael Elkahla.

The game started with Minehead looking to play plenty of long balls down the right side causing plenty of panic with their pace, but Combe defended well.

As the game settled, both keepers were tested; Owen Ladd centered for Jamie Lillington who fired straight at the keeper.

The second half saw Combe continue where they started and continuous pressure saw Jacob Jones head against the post, as well as an Owen Ladd strike dragging just inches wide of the post.

With the home side struggling to get close to the Combe goal with a solid back line bossing the game, a number of corners saw Combe take the lead. A goal mouth scramble finally saw Owen Ladd get the ball over the line to make it 1-0 on 62 minutes.

Late on, Minehead were awarded a free kick - the resulting kick struck a hand and a penalty kick was awarded. The spot kick was scored in the 87th minute to Combe's anguish, and both sides saw out the final minutes to share the points.

Gary Parsley said after the game: "That was the best team performance this season; the lads deserved the win after dominating for long spells. Jake & Mike were outstanding at the back all game and both deserve a mention. We move on to the next one!"
