Perry Street League Division One: Misterton Res 0-2 Ilminster Town Res

WHILE the Ilminster Town FC first team and the A team were without a game at the weekend due to poor weather, the Reserves were in action and won well away from home.

They defeated Misterton Reserves 0-2 in the Perry Street & District Leagues Division One and moved up to the top of the league table.

It was a close fought battle as both sides created chances but Andrew Male in goal for Ilminster was on top form and earned himself man of the match for his saves throughout the game.

In terms of goals scored, there was one a piece for Callum Preston and Keiran Randall both of which came in the first half.

It is fair to say that in that first period Ilminster Reserves were in control and they made the most of their opportunities with two fine strikes.

Misterton were not out of the match completely as they did cause a few scares for the Blues defence but the visitors held on until half time.

In the second forty five it was more of the same as the hosts looked to push higher up the pitch in search of a goal back.

They did dominate proceedings for large parts of the half too but again great saves from Andrew Male meant that Ilminster Reserves lead was held on to.

The match finished 2-0 in favour of the visiting side and took them four points clear at the top of the table.

After 12 matches played, Ilminster Town Reserves have won 10, drawn 2 and lost none and have racked up a goal difference of positive 29.

In other news at the club, the Ilminster Town Ladies first team saw their game postponed due to a failed pitch inspection.

However the Ladies Reserves were in action and in fact they earned their first win of the season!

hey defeated Sydenham Rangers 2-1 in their match away from home with goals coming from Maisie Parker and Ellie Orritt.

A spokesperson from the club said: "The reserves picked up their first win of the season today, beating Sydenham Rangers 2-1.

"Katie Clark was player of the match with Phoebe Lush being awarded Donkey."
