A BUSY week for the seniors of Cricket St Thomas Golf club began on Monday when James Siabi captained the Saints team to play Vivary Park. Despite a losing start, the following four games were successful and the Saints were winners by 5 - 1.

Meanwhile the rest of the seniors played a 4 ball better ball competition. Runaway winners were Gordon Brent & Ian Frost with 49 points, Tim Purrett & Andy Rowland tied with Chris Hiam & Perter Spencer-Farr in second place with 45 points.

On Tuesday, Dave Mugridge captained the CST match team against Oake Manor in the Avalon league, where they suffered their first defeat of the season by 4 - 1. Mark Cording & Ian Hildred were the only success. 

A stableford 3 from 4 competition was held on Wednesday. In a tight finish, Chris Gingell, Nick Hill, Terry Rutherford & Andy Rowland managed to amass 121 points to win by 2 points over Barrie Heath, Bob White, Mike Hone & Bob Barrow.

On Friday, Stuart Pope took his match team into Devon to play against Teign Valley, a club set in Dartmouth national Park, hoping to replicate the 6 - 0 home win earlier in the year. With Teign Valley leading at 3 - 2, the final game was crucial, but despite a valiant come back from 3 down, the Saints lost by 1 hole and lost the match by 4 - 2.

The remaining seniors played a 123 Bowmaker tournament which as won by Terry Hackling, Rod Stevens & Ian Frost who returned a score of 84 points. Chris Gingell, Tim Purrett & Bob Dennet were runners up with 79 points.
