A LARGE group of 48 members of the senior section of Cricket St Thomas Golf Club entered the August Medal competition on Wednesday.

In a tight finish in Division 1, Chris Gingell came out on top with a net 64, beating his nearest rival, Terry Rutherford by one shot.

Ian Hildred claimed third place with a net 66. Round of the day was produced by Barrie Heath who won Division 2 with a net 62.

Martyn Jewell secured runner up with a net 66 and Mike Hone was third with a net 70. In Division 3, Ken Trott recorded a net 65.

Bob Rees was runner up with net 66 and Terry Hackling third with net 68.

27 members of the senior section enjoyed the fine weather on Friday and played a 3 man waltz tournament.

This format which requires all team members to score on every third hole produces some fluctuating scoring and the final result is in the balance until the 18th hole.

Mark Haskins, Dave Asquith & Dennis Hussey won the day amassing 86 points with Rod Young, Chris Basterfield & Andy Rowland runners up with 82 points.
