SOMERSET’S Marcus Trescothick is looking forward to appearing for the England Masters XI on Thursday when they play a T20 match against King’s College in Taunton (4pm start).

Trescothick - who played in 76 Test Matches for England, including being a key member of the famous 2005 Ashes winning side - will be making his debut for the England Masters.

He said: “It will be great to play on Thursday and have the chance to catch up with a lot of people who I have played alongside down the line.

“There will be a lot of my mates in the England side and the weather looks set to be fine so it should be a good afternoon for everyone.

“I know that these occasions are good days for everyone so it should be good fun.”

With the 2015 Ashes series set to start next week the Somerset skipper said: “I know there are a few question and answer sessions going on and now doubt people will be wanting to talk about the Ashes series which starts next week in Cardiff, but as much as anything for me it will be catching up with a lot of my friends some of who I haven’t seen for a little while.”

King’s captain Sam Underdown is another who is relishing the prospect of playing against some of the legends of recent English cricket, including Matthew Hoggard, Mark Ramprakash and Andy Caddick.

“It will be a very prestigious feeling playing and captaining against many of the England Legends who I grew up watching on T.V. but at the same time a great challenge for the team as we are always looking to push ourselves,” the 18 year old batsman said.

“We have had a lot of game time and net practice so I feel we are well prepared, with specific focus on our range hitting in preparation.

“The coaching staff under Phil Lewis have provided us with the opportunities to go out there and do ourselves proud against some of the best cricketers the country has produced. But of course the day is all for a good cause and undoubtedly great fun for all who are coming.”

Tickets for the match can be purchased on the day at the gate priced £10 for adults and £3 for accompanied adults.
