CHARD A travelled to face Colyton B in the East Devon League.

This is a very challenging venue for away teams as the mats are laid in an old cinema.

The play is downhill in one direction and uphill in the other.

Chard A failed to adapt to this and lost by 8-0 and 109-27.

On the other hand Chard B did somewhat better. They were at home to Combe St Nicholas. Despite some very close games Chard B came out the victors by 6-2 in games and 72 -42 points.

On Saturday Colin Burdett, from Milford and Dormor, kindly gave up some of his weekend to present the prizes for the Milford and Dormor Mixed Triples competition.

Magpies came third, Royals second and Harlequins took the title.

All the competitors would like to thank Milford and Dormor solicitors for their continuing sponsorship of this very enjoyable competition.

Hot shot badges were also presented. Only two teams gained these this year.

They were Tony and Olive Helliar and John Gibbons of the Royals and Jenny Cornelius, Maureen Fenwick and Roy Vaux of the Magpies.

Now Chard Bowling Club looks forward to the outdoor season with the opening of the green on April 18.

There will also be an open day held on Sunday, April 19.

If you would like to give the game a try go along and see the club at Bonds Meadow. There will be snacks available and the bar will also be open between 10am and 4pm.
