CHARD Colts lost a gripping match with Clevedon 26-19 when the visitors crossed for a try under the posts with the last play of the game.

It capped a remarkable second-half comeback having looked down and out at half time.

Chard really dominated in the first-half and a large crowd at the main ground were treated to a really good game.

Jacob Whitefield opened the scoring for Chard with the first try and further tries were added by Brian Wingate and Warren Lewis.

George Whitlock added two conversions and although Clevedon did cross the Chard line once before the break Chard did appear to have a comfortable 19pts-5 lead at half time.

In the second-half Clevedon injected a lot of pace in to their game and two converted tries got the scores level.

In a real ding-dong final quarter Clevedon got over for a last minute try to seal the win.

The Chard youngsters will no doubt be disappointed with the final outcome but in truth they played really well and with the vast majority of the team young enough to play in the Colts again next year the future looks good for them and the club.
