BOWLS: Ilminster suffer double rink heartache
ILMINSTER men were beaten by just one shot in the national ‘Double Rink’.
After starting well their home rink was pegged back, but held on to win by nine shots. However the away rink lost by ten shots.
Scores: home – Tony Peterson, Roger Lench, Peter Mattravers and Steve Turner 25, T Ainsworth 16. Away – Will Anderson, Rowland Garland, Jason Miles and Mark Denslow 14, D Clark 24.
On Friday Ilminster belied their position at the bottom of the Somerset and Devon mixed league by beating visitors Bridgwater on both rinks.
Scores: Gerry Morris, Isobel Rymell, John Mitchell and John Osborne 19, N Edwards 14; Ann Morris, Chris Rymell, David Pugh and Maureen Mitchell 18 J Capon 13.
