SOMERSET quick bowler Jamie Overton has had a hectic schedule since Christmas, spending the first three days of each week in Loughborough with the England Potential Emerging Players Programme, before returning to the County Ground to work his county colleagues.

The 20-year-old said: “It’s been a pretty busy time and has involved a lot of travelling but I am enjoying it.

“I am very happy with the way everything is going for me right now and feel that I am coming along nicely.

“The bowling is going well, so I’m moving in the right direction.”

Before Christmas, along with the rest of the PEPP group, Overton spent a week training in Portugal.

He added: “I more or less knew what to expect as I went there last year on the same programme but it was good to get away and train somewhere different.”

Overton travels with the PEPP group aren’t stopping there as he will soon be heading off with them to South Africa.

He added: “We are off to Potchefstroom for three weeks in February which I am really looking forward to “It will be great to be bowling back outside and help me to hit my straps ready for the new season which isn’t too far away. “When I come back from there I have got a little time off and then I will be going out to Spain with the rest of the Somerset squad on March 4.

“It will be good to get back with the lads and join up with them for that trip before we come back and really get started.”
