A GROUP of Nifty Knitters have been busy crafting woolly gifts to donate to charity at their home in South Petherton.

The group at Burnworthy House residential care home have been making knitted blankets for the past few months to give to three worthy causes.

This is the fourth year in a row that the Nifty Knitters have donated items to charity, with plans already in place for next year, as the residents continue to show their charitable side.

Jackie Howells, manager at Burnworthy House, praised all the residents for their hard work, and said that the knitting was a great bonding exercise that everybody enjoyed.

She said: “Our Nifty Knitters group is so popular at Burnworthy House.

“They love getting together and knitting items for a good cause and having a chat about current events.

“This is the fourth year that they’ve supported animal charities with their knitting and I’m so pleased and proud that they plan to do the same next year.”

After the residents had finished, the blankets were collected by charity supporter Jaqueline Hawkins Dunford.

The blankets will now be distributed between St Giles Dog for Adoption, FAB Northamptonshire and the Senior Staffy Club.

All three of the organisations are animal charities, and cater for animals across the United Kingdom, offering them some respite care and the chance to be rehomed.
