YOUNG historians have delved into the past at Herne View Primary School in Ilminster to mark this year’s Women’s History Month.
The event provides an excellent opportunity to discover important female figures and integrate their stories into lessons.
It’s a chance to reflect on the achievements of women throughout history and recognise their efforts toward equal rights for women.
At Herne View, all classes, from the ages of 4-11, chose famous historical female figures to complete a variety of activities.
These famous female figures ranged from Amelia Earhart to the Suffragettes and Queen Elizabeth II.
The children completed numerous different activities led by the staff from themed artwork in EYFS, to fact files, posters, and non-chronological reports.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed the range of work completed, with one pupil stating, “it was the best history lesson we have ever had”.
Thanks go to the school’s History Lead George Musgrave for co-ordinating all these activities and inspiring the next generation of historians.
