ILMINSTER Town Council has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and said it will mark the milestone with a tree planting ceremony later this year.
The local authority was formed on April 1, 1974 from what originally was the Urban District Council.
“Today [April 1] marks the day that it was formed from what was originally the Urban District Council, 50 years ago on April 1, 1974.
“We will be looking to commemorate this event with a tree planting ceremony later on in the year.
“Ilminster currently has 15 councillors who represent our community. Here is a picture that was taken at the last ever town council meeting to be held at the North Street offices.
