A CHARD school will offer a temporary home to a martial arts club that was severely damaged by a fire last week.

Holyrood Academy will host the activities of Chard Tae Kwon-do for three weeks, with the potential for extension depending on the club’s needs.

Nina, the owner and operator of the martial arts club, reached out to Holyrood Academy after the fire, which also damaged PMBL, to see if they were able to help in any way.

Chard Tae Kwon-do expressed gratitude for the opportunity to utilize Holyrood Academy's facilities and highlighted the positive impact on the local community.

Headteacher Dave MacCormick said: “I am very pleased that the school is able to help Chard Tae Kwon-Do Club to carry on running their activities after what has been a terrible shock for them.

“I know that our friends at Manor Court Primary School are also stepping in to provide a venue for some activities.

“Chard is a great community which I know will pull together to make sure that club members can keep pursuing their passions.”

Under the agreement, Chard Tae Kwon-do will utilize Holyrood Academy's upper site hall for a preliminary period of three weeks, with the potential for extension based on the needs of Chard Tae Kwon-do.

A message from the school also read: “This arrangement demonstrates Holyrood Academy's commitment to supporting the local community.

“Holyrood Academy and Chard Tae Kwon-do exemplify the power of community in promoting community engagement.”

The school said it will continue to work to bridge the gap between the school and the community.

They also added they have a huge amount of space and are fortunate to be able to hire these spaces out.

Anyone looking for a venue can contact the school to see if it fits their needs and get more information.
