CHARD Town travelled to Mendip Broadwalk FC (Bristol), only for the match referee to cancel the game 15 mins before kick off at the weekend.

The decision to postpone the match was made as the players were leaving the pitch following their warm up.

The pitch was heavily sanded in three areas, when tested by the referee the ball wouldn't bounce. The referee said players safety is paramount.

Mendip Broadwalk FC had a 10am pitch inspection, but not by a referee.

This Wednesday Chard travel to Frys Club under the floodlights and then on Saturday they return home for a match against Worle.

In other news at the club, they hosted a successful Quiz Night at the club house last week,

A spokesperson said: "We had a great event at the football club last night. Our first quiz night, many thanks to John the quizmaster and Michelle Perry who organised the night.

"Thanks to everyone that turned up, if you didn't you missed a good night."
