AN ANIMAL sanctuary has launched an appeal to find a new forever home for a dog that recently arrived at the kennels.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary is looking for “a Christmas angel” who could find a home for Tillie.

A spokesperson for the animal sanctuary said: “Tilly has just arrived with us. Her owner recently passed away and Tilly is grieving.

“She is so sad and really struggling in the kennels. It is just heart-breaking when we have an oldie in kennels, it is so much harder for them.

“Tillie is used to being with her owner all the time and not used to being left.

“Is there a Christmas angel out there to make Tilly's Christmas dreams of a new forever home come true?

“Tilly is a very sweet older lady who is looking for someone special to spend her twilight years with.

“She is finding kennels very tough at the moment as her owner sadly passed away so understandably she is very unsettled.

“Tilly is good with dogs out and about, she could live with another older calm dog but she will chase cats.

“She has never been around children before so best if she is in an adult-only home or with older children.

“Tilly is house-trained and walks well on the lead.

"We are looking for Tilly’s new owners to be around most of the time as she really doesn’t like being left alone now. Could you help Tilly?”
