MEMBERS of Blackdown Acapella Chorus recently returned home to Chard from a fabulous weekend at the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS) convention in Harrogate.

After less than two years of performing together and with eight new members who have never crossed a barbershop stage, they are over the moon with their results.

They came eighth in the Mid-sized Chorus group of 19 choruses and just missed out on the Most Improved Chorus award.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We had so much fun listening to and singing with all our fellow LABBS members.

"Thanks to all of our fellow barber-shoppers for support and encouragement and congratulations to all who won lovely trophies.

"We can’t wait to do it all again next year in Bournemouth."

Blackdown Acapella Chorus formed in the autumn of 2021 with five founder members, growing to 25 after their first ‘Taster Day’ and to 34 members in January this year after the second ‘Taster Day’.

The chorus is holding a third Taster Day at Chard Guildhall on Sunday, December 3.

The spokesperson added: "So, if you love to sing and would love to be part of something really special, you can learn a song, come along and feel how it feels to sing in four-part harmony with at least 30 other singers."
