WORK on the outer sea defence wall at Clevedon's Marine Lake is due to start next week (Tuesday, May 14).

The work on the damaged wall is being funded by North Somerset Council (NSC).

A spokesperson from Clevedon Marine Lake said: "NSC are funding major repairs to our outer sea defence wall.

"These are vital since the wall is damaged in several places. It's excellent news and very welcome that NSC has prioritised the project this year, particularly given wider budget pressures.

"It's the same contractor who successfully executed the works to the inner wall which went smoothly and produced a top class job.

"The repairs will impact the whole of the sea-facing side of the outer sea wall. Additionally, the contractor will require a small floating access platform (6mx2m) to move along the lake-facing side of the sea wall, parallel to it, and protruding into the lake.

"Each night the platform will be stored at the northern (shallow) end near the slipway.

"You will see that the works start on Monday, May 13. Please exercise caution in the vicinity of the works so that all lake users and indeed contractors can stay safe."
