After its triumph last year, a Ukrainian opera company is returning to the UK and will be performing in Yeovil.

Dnipro Opera is known for its lavish productions and blockbuster performances capped with a full orchestra.

This season, they will be bringing the timeless Madama Butterfly opera to life on the stage.

The company, notable for its accomplished cast and extensive live orchestra consisting of more than 30 musicians, have gained fame with their vivid renditions of classical works.

The upcoming tour is no exception, promising a feast for the senses with newly designed settings, stunning costumes, remarkable singing, and harmonious melodies.

Madama Butterfly, a creation of composer Giacomo Puccini, is a vibrant and exotic opera, yet laden with poignant tragedy.

With Italian lyrics and English surtitles, the story is set in Japan at the dawn of the 20th century.

It narrates the ill-fated romance between a US naval officer and a young Japanese bride.

Her valiant defiance and sacrifice for love lead to a heart-rending end.

Despite its sombre narrative, the opera houses some of the most exquisite aria, including One Fine Day, Love Duet, and Humming Chorus.

The Dnipro opera group has a reputation for hosting vibrant versions of operas that showcase their forward strides in creative growth.

Their recent efforts include rendering global classical music and compositions from modern composers, particularly Ukrainian classics.

Producer, Alexej Ignatow of Amande Concerts Ltd said: "We are really excited to be bringing back this opera company in these difficult times.

"The journey remains extremely challenging for the artists emotionally and physically.

"But with lots of dedication and love to our work, we have overcome the many extraordinary obstacles.

"The cast has been rehearsing vigorously over the last five weeks, and will continue to do so until the very moment when they will be leaving for the UK.

"We in the production office are now fully focussed on marketing these operas and raising awareness.

"We hope to see you very soon at one of our venues."

The company will be preforming at Westlands Entertainment Venue in Yeovil on Sunday 18 February.

Tickets available online at the Westlands website or by calling the box office on 01935 422884.
