A DOG-GROOMER who has “recently been made redundant” has submitted an application to build a timber shed to be used as a dog grooming studio at their property.
The Stoke-sub-Hamdon application is looking for consent to erect a timber shed in the rear garden of 34 Stonehill, East Stoke, Stoke-sub-Hamdon.
In a planning document, the owner of the property said: “After many years of working as a dog groomer at a well-known veterinary practice, I have recently been made redundant.
“I am therefore looking to set up my own dog grooming business from a small cabin in my back garden.
“I would be a sole trader and run an appointment-only system, I would have a maximum of three dogs on site at any one time, one of these dogs being my own.
“There would be a maximum of three clients dropping off/collecting their dogs per day.
“This process should take five to 10 minutes each time. I would expect clients to drive or walk to their appointments where possible.
“The grooming time for each dog including bathing, drying, and clipping/trimming as required would range from two to three hours each so noise disturbance would be minimal.”
The business would have the following opening hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, Sundays and Bank Holidays closed.
The planning document also read: “In summary, the new dog grooming business and proposed building to house it are, by reason of its scale and position an appropriate development in this domestic situation.”
