I READ an article about the £500k investment in a new gym for Chard with interest and hope for the future of Chard.

However, I was disappointed. It appears that yet again the children and families of Chard have had their needs overlooked.

There must be more than 2000 children in Chard and more than 2000 parents.

Did the investors undertake a community profile when agreeing this investment?

Chard needs a permanent indoor activity centre for children and their families.

This needs to contain an indoor play zone for younger ones and perhaps a climbing wall for the older children and adults.

Having such a provision would mean people can come to Chard instead of travelling out to Exeter or Yeovil.

There also needs to be a provision to promote wellbeing such as a sauna or steam room.

What are the plans for the swimming pool site?

I implore those in charge to invest in the children and families.
