Specialist rescuers and a crane had to be called out to help free two horses stuck in a water filled ditch near Bridgwater last night.
One fire appliance from Bridgwater, one from Taunton and the Special Rescue Team from Bridgwater were sent to a report of two horses stuck in a water filled ditch at Saltmoor, Burrowbridge, Bridgwater.
The crews found the first horse and got to work using strops and lines to try and release it. Other crews searched the area for the second horse.
A telehandler was requested and was sent on from Clyst St George.
Both horses were eventually rescued by Fire Service personnel using a telehandler, strops, lines and small tools.
A vet also attended and assessed both animals at the scene.
